Fried wontons and cream cheese wontons are the most common for air frying. Steamed-style wontons for soup are not designed for dry-heat cooking and will be tough — stick to those labeled as fry-style or crispy wontons.
Wontons with meat filling should reach 165°F (74°C) internally. Cream cheese or vegetable wontons are done when golden-brown outside and visibly bubbling inside.
Serve with sweet and sour sauce, soy dipping sauce, or a spicy Szechuan sauce. Wontons can also be served atop a broth-based soup for a soup-dumpling experience.
